About the Unitarian Church of Sharon, Massachusetts
Welcome
to the website of the Unitarian Church of Sharon. We are a small mid-size
congregation of about 130 adult members and friends,
and 90 children, located in the center of Sharon, Massachusetts at the
corner of Depot and North Main Streets.
We are delighted
to welcome all who wish to join us in church on Sunday, in Religious Education
classes for children and adults, and at fellowship and social justice
events.
Our Sunday morning worship services begin at 10:15 a.m. Children begin
the morning upstairs in the Meetinghouse for worship with their parents.
After a special time for children in the service, children move downstairs
to religious education classes. The service ends at 11:15 a.m. and is
followed by a coffee hour. Church services are on hiatus from late June
to early September.
While we take our faith seriously, we tend to be a fairly relaxed group,
especially where dress is concerned. Wear whatever makes you comfortable,
and know that you and your children don't have to get dressed up to join
us on Sunday.
Services will be on hiatus for the summer after June 14. Services will resume on September 13.
Rev. Tricia Brennan is the interim minister. She can be reached
by calling 781-784-9460. Her office hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays mid-day and by appointment.
In Spring 2008 the Board asked Rev. Brennan if she would take a one month unpaid furlough as a way to decrease operating expenses in fiscal year 2009-2010. She agreed and will take this one month from January 7-28, 2010 and from February 13-20, 2010. During that time, Rev. Lilli Nye of the Theodore Parker UU church in West Roxbury will provide pastoral coverage. She can be reached at 617-325-4439 (church) or 617- 823-9025 (cell). The members of the Caring Committee are also available to assist with pastoral concerns. The Chair of the Caring Committee is Pat McDougal and the members are Mary Nelson, Joyce Bramhall, Melissa Marquez, and Louise Chereski. The Worship Committee deserves much appreciation for organizing and leading worship for the four Sundays that Rev. Brennan is away.
Director of Religious
Education Louise Marcoux has the same hours as last year: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 am – 2:30 p.m. She can be reached
by calling 781-784-0998.
Administrative Assistant,
Janet Mayo has changed her office hours for this year. Her hours will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. You may reach Janet by the e-mail link above or at 781-784-3652.
