Heartfelt Conversations It’s a season of change at church, physical change that will touch almost every part of the building and grounds through the AIM project, and a special change in relationship that will touch our hearts as we say good-bye to Rev. Deborah Cayer, our minister of twelve years. People who have been through this magnitude of change suggest that while it doesn’t feel so great sometimes, it’s better to go through it with intention and awareness. Times of change are opportunities to look at what has been important, mourn what was but is no more, claim the meaning we make of our experience, and turn to face the future with hope and confidence. To support this healthy process we’ve created several opportunities for something we’re calling “Heartfelt Conversations.” If you’re feeling the need to share what’s in your mind and heart about all this change, you might want to attend a one and a half hour sharing circle to talk about what’s going on at church, particularly the minister’s departure at the end of June. We’ll light a chalice and use a talking stick or stone so we can really hear one another. A lay facilitator will offer conversation starters, such as, “What has had heart and meaning for you at church?” These conversations will be a chance not only to share feelings, but also to name and claim the good things that have been, express sadness, ask questions, and especially to make connections with fellow church members. You’re welcome to attend one or more Heartfelt Conversation:
You may wish to bring a brown bag lunch for the noontime meetings on Sunday or Thursday. We’ll have tea and cold drinks for all sessions…and tissues. If you have questions, contact Ellen Schoenfeld, Edele Panessidi, or Irving Post.
