End-of-Summer Retreats at Ferry Beach, Saco, ME – There’s still one option, Aug. 25-27. Enjoy community, fellowship and fun at the beach! Go to www.ferrybeach.org to learn about lodging/meal options,register there or 207-282-4489; notify glennrivard@hotmail.com.
UPDATED Summer Services From June 25 through Sept. 10 we will hold a single service each Sunday, at 10:15am. Please join us for the service and for refreshments and conversation afterwards. Childcare will be available during the service.
We regularly collect toothbrushes and travel-size soaps, shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, etc., for the residents of Father Bill’s / MainSpring House. Special requests: adult-size shower shoes, combs, hair brushes and feminine care products.
Our Brown Envelope Social Justice offerings for July and August will support the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry’s summer youth programs. Learn more at www.uuum.org.
Through Sept. 3, the theme of our summer services (at 10:15am only on Sundays) will be Values that Matter. Sept. 10 will be our Ingathering (details below) Childcare will be available. Refreshments and conversation follow each service.
Movie Night resumes at 7pm on Sept. 8 when we will view and discuss 2016’s Hidden Figures, a biographical drama about female African American mathematicians working at NASA during the Space Race. Enjoy the movie, lively conversation and free popcorn. Open to all.

Book Group We will skip September and meet at 7:30pm on Oct. 4 in the church library to discuss Martha Hall Kelly’s The Lilac Girls, See the description later in this scroll. Please join us even if you haven’t finished the book.
Sept 10 10:15am Water Communion Bring a sample of water from your summer travels, work or staycation for our annual in-gathering. We will have pitchers of water available in case you aren’t able to bring some.
Book Group On Oct. 4 at 7:30pm join us in the library to discuss The Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly. Inspired by real World War II events, this novel reveals the power of unsung women to change history. Join us even if you haven’t finished the book.
Meditation and Study Group We meet from 7:30pm – 8:30pm on Tuesdays, alternating periods of personal seated meditation with other methods. Instruction is available and the group is always open to new participants.
Shopping for Justice We purchase grocery cards at a discount and sell them at face value. The difference helps to fund our Social Justice work. Cards for Big Y, Shaw’s and Stop & Shop are available during coffee hour.
BOOK GROUP In Elizabeth Strout’s My Name is Lucy Barton, a simple hospital visit becomes a portal to the tender relationship between mother and daughter. Join us to discuss the book at 7:30pm on Weds., Nov. 1st even if you haven’t finished the book.
Book Group meets in the library at 7:30pm on the first Wednesday of most months from September through June. You are welcome to join us, even if you haven’t finished reading the book. See details elsewhere in this scroll.
One Sunday each month we prepare 100 peanut-free bag lunches for MainSpring House. All ages are welcome to participate. Remember to bring personal-size items like shampoo, soap, etc., to be delivered with the lunches. Check the scroll for this month’s date.
Recycling Opportunity Do you have gift cards that can’t be reloaded or expired credit cards you’ve sliced up? Our Social Justice Committee has found a recycler who will accept them. Bring them to the Social Justice table on Sundays.
Let’s Laugh Today UPDATES sessions run from 11am-12pm on the third Saturday of June, July and September (no August session). Bring water to drink and a donation (non-perishable food for the Sharon-Stoughton Food Pantry or travel-size toiletries for Father Bill’s / MainSpring House).
We support the Ilsa Marks Sharon-Stoughton Food Pantry year-round (and are among the few organizations that do so). The need has continued to grow. Please leave your donations of non-perishable food in the entryway.
**PEANUT-FREE** Lunchmaking for MainSpring House All ages are welcome to help make the 100 peanut-free lunches we donate once each month. Remember to bring personal-size items like shampoo, soap, etc., to be delivered with the lunches. See special request notice for additional items.

Need a Gift? Depending on store policy, you may be able to use Shopping for Justice grocery cards to purchase other types of gifts cards (e.g., for restaurants, department or home improvement stores, or online music vendors), thus extending our Social Justice programs.
