Adult Religious Education
Adult Religious Education classes provide opportunities
to learn how others in the congregation feel about issues as well as times
for fellowship and information-gathering.
The Adult Religious Education Committee welcomes your ideas
and suggestions for future adult education opportunities at the church.
E-mail the Adult Education chairs and
let them know what youre thinking.
Adult Religious Education: Spring 2008
Introduction to Nia - Through Movement We Find Health
Strengthen, align, and energize your body through
the sheer joy of movement and music! This barefoot mind+body+spirit
practice blends dance arts, martial arts, and healing arts for a truly
blissful experience. No experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothes
and if you like bring a journal. We'll meet in the vestry on Saturday,
April 5th from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Class will be taught by Pamela
McIntyre. Some of you may remember her from the Collage Workshop she
did in December. She is great! There is a $10 fee for the class. There
are limited scholarships available. We would like to have 10 people
to run the class. We hope you’ll join us! Sign up on the Adult
RE Board.
Yoga
Sylvia Mignon will teach a very gentle beginner's yoga class on Mondays
from 7:15 to 8:30 pm on the following dates: May 12, May 19, May 26 (yes,
Memorial Day), June 2, June 9, and June 16. Come to one class or come
to all. No experience necessary. Dress in comfortable clothing. Please
bring a yoga mat and blanket. If you don't have a yoga mat, bring two
blankets. There is no charge for this first-time offering. All are welcome.
Call Sylvia if you have any questions.
Interested in Joining a Support Group?
Ever wish you had others to talk to about big things that are going on
in your life? Do you sometimes wish you had a group to share vague
feelings of dissatisfaction and explore new directions? Is stress sometimes
too much for you. If so, a support group might be helpful.
Support groups generally meet a couple times a month on
a regular schedule so participants can share their thoughts and feelings,
and experience the caring presence of others. Participants don’t try to solve
or judge one another’s problems, but instead simply listen with
an open heart and mind. While members don’t offer each other advice,
they might offer a question or share a feeling in response.
Our congregation has two support groups that are open
to new members on an occasional basis. We’re wondering if there are additional
folks who might like to be included in a new, third group. If you’re
interested in being in a support group, please contact Rev.
Cayer,
781-784-9460.
Small Group Ministry
Over the last year a few of us have attended meetings of a group dedicated
to small group ministry. The small group ministry program is a means
of learning the minds and hearts of fellow congregants. It provides
a venue for listening and speaking thoughtfully at a level we are normally
unable to do during our busy hectic days. The learning is from a set
format. A topic is chosen from a publication which is supplied for
the purpose of these discussions. The set format consists of the lighting
of the chalice, a reading, answering (you may pass) several questions
based on the theme of the session. There is pretty much no home work
for the sessions. The work for the group leader is to select a topic
from the small group ministry publication. We are opening the group
to new members. The sessions are one-and-one-half hours long. Please
consider joining us if you would like. Contact Gary Webber or Liz Moore
if you are interested.
