AIM Higher Renovation project

AIM Higher – Restoration of the Meetinghouse

The Chalice – October 2025

Between dining on beans, reconnecting with each other and listening to the great music, we hope you also saw the slideshow celebrating what our congregation accomplished with the new wing and the vestry/kitchen renovations. It’s a great reminder of what we can do together—and inspiration for restoring our meetinghouse.

The AIM Higher Committee has a busy time ahead – and we will be asking you to help us with important decisions. Our consultant, Joy Squared Designs will spend the next few weeks reviewing documents from AIM II – our pre-COVID start on the project. They’ll also be sending a questionnaire to the Buildings & Grounds committee.

After a walk-through to assess current conditions and Fall meetings with our AIM Higher committee they will prepare a draft report. Importantly, their information gathering will include soliciting the thoughts of committee chairs and a Fall meeting with the congregation. We will send out dates for these opportunities to work with Joy Squared Designs. Please make every effort to attend, because we want to know your hopes and your thoughts on priorities—we can only move forward with broad congregational input.

Here are a few of the topics we’ll explore together: window treatments, chairs vs pews, lighting, A/ V technology, HVAC, the ceiling. Now is the time to be thinking and talking about some of these aesthetic issues as well as the technical and structural ones. We’ll aim to present clear options and trade-offs so everyone can see how choices affect cost, accessibility, safety, sustainability, and worship/use.

We are excited to begin our work together and look forward to hearing from you as we plan a restoration worthy of our beloved meetinghouse!

AIM Higher
Restoration of the Meetinghouse

Joy Square Design (JSD) got everyone thinking on December 7 at our congregational workshop. For two packed hours, we envisioned the future of the vestry and sanctuary, making the church accessible to all, and making our historic meetinghouse environmentally sustainable.
