MLK program (virtual library)

January 17 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

January 17 @ 4:00 pm – 5:15

The Unitarian Church of Sharon’s Anti-Racism Working Group and Social Justice Committee will be providing a time for gathering and honoring MLK’s message of love and his call for action to abolish racism and all forms of oppression in order to create genuine equality for ALL.

We hope you will join us this afternoon in a program designed to engage and inspire you as we:

• Read some excerpts from MLK’s Ware Lecture at the 1966 UUA General Assembly entitled “Don’t Sleep Through the Revolution”
[To read the entire lecture go to: https://www.uua.org/ga/past/1966/ware]
• Watch a few clips of some of MLK Jr.’s speeches
• Listen to some songs associated with the Black Freedom Movement
• Examine our calling, as UUs, to consider adopting the new proposed 8th Principle

AND for those who would like to stay on a bit longer

• Reflect and share our thoughts and feelings about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s work, where we are now as a nation and the work that lies ahead.
