Youth Groups (Grades 6 – 12)
Junior Youth Fellowship Group (JYFG) for grades 6-8 meets once a month for a variety of activities that include conversations, games, art projects, questions, caring, and lots of laughter.
Senior Youth Group (SYG) for grades 9-12 is our youth empowerment, leadership skill building, open and safe space for older youth to connect with each other, the congregation, and our larger communities. SYG is structured with weekly meetings on Sundays from 5-7pm and is open to all 9th-12th grade youth including friends and youth outside of the church congregation. Regular meetings are a time and space during the week set aside to bond with peers, share joys and concerns, play games, and plan events and projects. Activities and program elements are selected by youth and have traditionally focused on service projects, social justice, fun and fellowship.
Both of our Youth Groups are led by Kate Oldshue, Youth Ministry Coordinator . Kate can be reached at email@example.com.
We offer a comprehensive, values-based sexuality education program called Our Whole Lives (OWL) to students in grades 7-9. Details will be on our forthcoming curriculum page. Adolescent OWL will be offered again during the school year 2023 -2024.
Volunteering in Religious Education
High school youth are encouraged to take the next step in their religious education journey by volunteering to teach the children of their congregation. Youth currently make up 25% of our corps of religious education teachers.
