Adolescent Programming

Youth Groups (Grades 6 – 12)

Both our middle and high school youth groups are led by Caroline Dixon, Youth Ministry Coordinator . Caroline can be reached at yc@uusharon.org.

Sexuality Education

We offer a comprehensive, values-based sexuality education program called Our Whole Lives (OWL) to students in grades 7-9.  Details will be on our forthcoming curriculum page.  Adolescent OWL will be offered again during the school year 2023 -2024.

Coming of Age

Through retreats, workshops, and a mentor program, this year-long course helps teens not only deepen their understanding of Unitarian Universalism but also clarify and articulate their own beliefs as they move toward later adolescence.

Volunteering in Religious Education

High school youth are encouraged to take the next step in their religious education journey by volunteering to facilitate in the congregations children’s program.

Leadership within the Congregation

High school youth take an active part in the work of the church. Youth commonly serve on committees and help with special events. Knowing how busy the adolescent years are, we support youth in stepping into leadership roles that work for them while giving them valuable skills and the opportunity to make a difference in the life of the church.

Membership in the Unitarian Church of Sharon

Becoming a member of the church is one way youth can express and explore their connection with the congregation. Youth ages 14 or older are eligible to become members of the church.  There is no fee. To find out more about membership, please contact the co-chairs of the Membership Committee, Jean Zaniewski and Terry Fitzgerald.  Read more here.
