Reflection

The ceremony of the flowers was first developed and led in 1923, by Rev. Norbert Čapek at the Unitarian congregation he founded in Prague. It has since become a meaningful part of the church year for many UU congregations around the US and internationally. For this ceremony, we bring a flower with us to church, join all our flowers together for the duration of the service, and we each go home with a different flower. The ritual is a beautiful and colorful enactment of our unity and diversity as people in community together.
